Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction between increasing energy levels and vitamin E-selenium on energy intake, haugh units (HU), egg yolk index and income over feed cost (IOFC). This study was a biological study in the form of feed treatment on Joper hens for 60 days. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design method with 2 treatment factors. The treatment factors used in this study were 2 levels of metabolic energy (V) (2700 and 2800 kcal/kg) and 5 doses of vitamin E-selenium (E) (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 ppm). Each treatment in this study was repeated 4 times and 10 laying hens were used in each treatment. The number of chickens used in this study was 400 Isa Brown strain laying hens aged 35 weeks. The results of statistical analysis showed that energy level had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on energy intake, egg yolk index, IOFC and significant (p<0.05) on Haugh unit (HU); vitamin E-selenium dose had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on Haugh unit (HU)’ egg yolk index and IOFC and significant (P<0.05) on energy intake; interaction between energy level and vitamin E-selenium level had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on IOFC and significant (p<0.05) on egg yolk index. This study can be concluded that increasing the energy level in feed and supplementation of vitamin E-selenium can increase energy intake, haugh unit (HU), egg yolk index and income over feed cost (IOFC). The best energy level was obtained in the feed of joper breeder broodstock at the level of 2800 Kcal/kg and the best dose of vitamin E-selenium supplementation was obtained at a dose of 100 ppm.
