Effect of EM4 Dosage on Straw Fermentation for Animal Feed

The community’s need for animal protein from year to year continues to increane in line with the increase in population.The need for animal protein can be met by livestock produts such as meat,eggs and milk.indonesian people’s meat comsumption reaches 7.1kg per capita per year,which is higher than the eeg consumption which is only 3.48 kg per capita per year and milk consumption of 6.5 kg per capita per year. Forage peed isneeded by ruminants to meet theircrude fiber needs.in general,the forage provided is in the form of fresh grass,but the availability of fresh grass in thedry season is very limited.This limitation can be overcome by utilizing agricultural waste in Java-Bali for lowland rice straw reached 4.78 tons per Ha,upland rice straw 2.76 tons per Ha,and local rice straw 5.78 tons per Ha in dry matter.in terms of availability,rice straw has excellent potentialas feed,but straw has a low digestibility of35-375%Method of Research 1.Types of research Research on giving EM4 liquid probiotics to straw was carried out experimentally. 2. Experimental design the experimental method used a completely randomized design (CRD) of 5 types of treatment (P0,P1,P2,P3 and P4), parameter feed cost per gain analyzed descriptively. The treatment rations given were as follows: P0 : Basic ration + 0 ml EM4 P1 : Basic ration + 0,5 ml EM4 P2: Basic ration + 1 ml EM4 P3: Basic ration + 1,5 ml EM4 P4 : Basic ration + 2 ml EM4 3. Research implementation the research was carried out for two weeks to find out the changes in straw that had been mixed with EM4 in each treatment.A good straw fermentation product is characterized by the following characteristics. The smell is slightly fragrant .The color is slightly Brownish yellow[the basic color of the straw is still visible],.soft texture [not stiff].Not rotten and not moldy in general,fresh grass is given forage,but the availability of fresh grass in the dry season is very limited.one of thestraw processing that is worth tryng and doing is with straw fermentation.The low digestibility of this straw can be overcome by adding feed additives.one of the feed additives that can be used is liquid probiotic EM4.1.2.Knowing the optimal level ofgiving EM4 Liquid probiotics to straw.1.2.The experimental method uses a completely randomized design [CRD]OF 5 types of treatment [PO,P1,P2,and P3,P4].
