Study of the Utilization of Rumen Waste as a Substitute for Rice Bran in Poultry Feed

The fluctuating price of feed and the lack of availability of raw materials have led to shortages and increased adulteration, including in rice bran. Various efforts have been made to address this issue, one of which is the utilization of alternative raw materials from rumen content waste as a substitute for rice bran. However, its use still faces several challenges, such as high crude fiber, crude protein, and anti-nutritional factors, which require processing before being used in feed formulation. One effective processing method is fermentation, which enhances digestibility and simplifies the nutritional structure of raw materials. Fermentation technology improves the nutritional quality of local feed ingredients, making them nutritionally viable for livestock feed formulation. Therefore, the utilization of fermented rumen content waste can serve as an alternative feed ingredient that helps reduce production costs while improving livestock palatability.
