Interaction Effects of Chicken Strain and Cage Type on the Initial and Peak Production Periods of Laying Hens

This study aims to determine the effects of interaction between chicken strain and cage type on the initial and peak production of laying hens. This research is a biological research using a 2x4 factorial completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor is the type of cage (K) with two types (closed house and open house type). The second factor was the chicken(S) strain with two strains (hy-line brown strain and lohman brown strain). The type of cage has a very significant effect (p>0.05) on the initial age of production, the age at peak production and the percentage of peak production. The average age at the beginning of production ranges from 18.25-21.75 weeks, the age at peak production ranges from 24.75-26.25 weeks, the percentage of peak production is 90.00-92.30% and the peak production period is 5.50-6.00 weeks. The conclusion of this study was that there was no interaction between the type of cage and the strain of chicken. The best productivity is obtained in the close house type.
